I posted on Jan 10th that I wanted to lose some weight and I figured today would be a good time to report back on that. I strategically weighed myself this morning before pigging out for the Super Bowl get-together we had today. It turned out that was a good idea since I’m pretty much in a food coma right now.
What I’ve Done
Since I posted on Jan 10th, I’ve been pretty disciplined about my diet. It took a little while to “ramp up”, because it’s difficult going right from eating not so healthy to eating really healthy. I’ve taken several steps over the past few weeks to ensure that I’m eating lots of organic fruits and vegetables. I joined a CSA which made the process a lot easier. The weekly CSA box included wonderful leafy greens such as spinach, Swiss chard, arugula, and more. I also eat a lot of berries, vegan Indian food, and grilled veggie sandwiches. I’ve limited my meat intake to just a couple servings per week. In fact, I didn’t eat any meat this week until today.
Another thing I wanted to mention, is I never deprive myself of food. I don’t count calories and I don’t limit what I eat. In In fact, most of time, I eat until I’m really full.
In addition to my diet, I’ve also been getting regular exercise. This is also something I had ramp up to, but now I walk at least 3 miles per day. They aren’t easy miles either; all of the walk is on pretty steep grades. My goal is to get to 4 or 5 miles per day.
When I weighed myself on January 7, I was 160 pounds. Today, I’m happy to report that I’m down to 155 pounds. That’s an average of 1 1/4 pounds lost per week.

I have just a little over 2 more weeks until we take off for our Costa Rica trip. Hopefully I’ll knock off 2-3 more pounds by then!
