It’s hard to believe that it’s been two full weeks since my last post. I guess that is what happens when you are traveling or busy every single one of those days. I’ve found myself thinking “I need to make a post on my blog” for at least a week now. Let me recap what’s been going on since we pulled out of New Orleans a couple weeks ago.
From New Orleans we drove non-stop to Houston, TX where a couple coworkers / friends of ours live. I was only there for a day before I needed to leave for Costa Rica, but my wife stayed with them for the entire week. It worked out perfectly because my friend’s husband had to leave for a couple days on business so they were able to keep each other company.
I headed down to Costa Rica from December 13th to December 18th for our quarterly board meeting and our annual Christmas party. It was one of the best trips I’ve had to Costa Rica. First, it was nice having the direct flight from Houston. It made the travel experience so much better. Next, our quarterly meeting was the most positive we’ve had in over 18 months. With the economic issues in the world, and the struggles in the online poker industry, things haven’t really been that fun. However, I think we are finally making a turn for the better on both accounts and I’m very excited for what the future holds. We have a few really amazing sites in PocketFIves, PokerSource, PokerBonuses, and PokerSoftware that we are positioning to be difference makers no matter what the future holds. Finally, our Christmas party was an absolute blast. It was kind of sad to see a lot less people because of cutbacks, but the people we have are amazing. Many have been with us for over 4 years now and it’s always fun hanging out with them. I don’t know how they did it, but they managed to get me to drink way too much. It was less than pleasant getting on a plane the next day (but it was worth it). I’ll be back in Costa Rica in late February for a wedding, vacation, and our next quarterly meeting.
Once I got back from Costa Rica we hung out with our Houston friends once last night before packing up and heading to Dallas, TX. We also have some great friends up there, so we spent 2 full days with them. I have some funny stories to tell about my time in Dallas – I will make a post about that once I have some more time.
When we pulled out of Dallas it became clear that the fun part of the RV trip was behind us. With 1355 miles between Dallas, TX and Las Vegas, NV and 3 days to do it in, well you get the point. As I write this post we are siting in Benson, AZ (a small town just east of Tucson, AZ), with 447 miles between us and home. With a little luck we’ll pull into Las Vegas safe and sound later tonight.
For my readers who celebrate Christmas – Merry Christmas!
